Black Mirror comes back with new star studded season
The Netflix anthology series, Black Mirror, is officially making a comeback, after a three year break with a new season this June, Netflix announced on Wednesday.
The streaming service announced the new season with a teaser trailer, showing the stories the series will be telling, and a first look at the cast, which includes Salma Hayek, Aron Paul, Michael Cera and Kate Mara.
The announcement described the series’ sixth season being the most unpredictable, unclassifiable and unexpected yet.
“Even though I always felt Black Mirror should feature stories entirely distinct from one another and that it should be a series that can’t easily be defined, I chose to make some creative decisions for the upcoming episodes that are different than what we’ve seen,” said Charlie Brooker, the creator and co-showrunner of the satirical horror series.
“Partly as a challenge, and partly to keep things fresh for both me and the viewer, I began this season by deliberately upending some of my own core assumptions about what to expect, the stories are all still tonally ‘Black Mirror’ through-and-through but with some crazy swings and more variety than ever before,” Brooker added.
Black Mirror is a science fiction anthology series that explores and demonstrates the negative side and risks of scientific and technological advancement, in dystopian settings during each episode, premiering on Channel 4 in the UK in 2011. The series has won six Emmy awards.
