Four police conscripts and a woman were injured on Friday when an improvised explosive device went off in Cairo’s Alf Maskan area, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.
The device was planted under a private car parked near a location known for its police presence.
Alf Maskan, and the nearby Matariya and Ain Shams districts, have witnessed almost-weekly protests and clashes between Islamist demonstrators and police or opposing locals since the ouster of Mohamed Morsi in July 2013.
