Bodies Of Three Killed Found In Egypt’s North Sinai

Security forces found three dead bodies on Monday in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula where the Egyptian army continues to fight a jihadist insurgency.

The dead were killed by gunshots and were found in different parts of Rafah city in the middle of the road, according to Ahram Arabic news website.

One was found in Sheikh Zuweid while the other near Karm Al-Kawadis area, where a deadly attack by jihadists killed 30 Army soldiers in October.

Ansar Beit Al-Maqdis (ABM), a jihadist group that has claimed allegiance to the Islamic State, claimed responsibility for the October attack.

According to Sinai tribes, ABM often kills locals who allegedly cooperate with the army and security forces or Israeli intelligence.

On Saturday, Egyptian police found two decapitated bodies in Sheikh Zuweid.

For over a year, Egypt’s army has been waging a major offensive against Islamic insurgents based in North Sinai.

Army forces have targeted militant hideouts with helicopters and ground troops, killing dozens in recent months.
