An improvised bomb blast on an Alexandria train wounded at least nine people, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported late on Thursday.
Egypt’s railway authority said in a statement that the wounded included a child who is in a “critical condition.”
The blast occurred in a carriage of a train carrying passengers between Abo Qir village and Sidi Gaber, a suburb of Egypt’s second biggest city.
Thursday saw a number of small bombings, marking the anniversary of the army’s ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi last year. There were also clashes between security forces and Morsi’s supporters in various parts of the country.
