BP donates medical kits to three key Egyptian major fever hospitals to fight coronavirus
BP said on Wednesday it has donated medical kits to three Egyptian hospitals to help in their work treating coronavirus cases.
The Three hospitals are in two of Egypt’s major cities – the Abbassia Imbaba Fever Hospitals in Cairo, and Alexandria Fever Hospital – will be receiving the donation this week, BP said in a statement.
The donation – worth around 2 million Egyptian pounds (about US$125,000) – includes an ultrasound machine, a digital radiography (DR) machine with lead aprons, and ventilators, the firm added.
“BP Egypt is committed to making an active contribution to the community, so we have decided to step up and seek opportunities to provide support, particularly to the health service providers who are managing the effects of the pandemic.”
Hesham Mekawi, regional president, BP North Africa, said.
BP Egypt is also supporting an initiative run by the Egyptian Food Bank. Under this initiative, BP employees’ donations will go for ‘Support Day Labour’, which aims to distribute 500,000 feeding boxes and food bags to day labourers, who are one of the largest groups to be affected by the pandemic.
On the global level, BP has committed $2 million to the World Health WHO COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
