BREAKING: Egypt imposes partial curfew, suspends transport to control coronavirus spread
Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly announced on Tuesday a partial curfew all over the country from 7 pm to 6 am as part of efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
The curfew is effective as of Wednesday morning and will last for two weeks, Madbouly said.
Public and private transport will also be suspended during the period, he added.
Egypt’s Ministry of Health announced on Monday evening five new coronavirus deaths, recording the country’s highest death toll in one day, and bringing the total number of deaths to 19.
The five fatalities are those of an Indian and four Egyptians.
Egypt also confirmed on Monday 39 new coronavirus cases, all from persons who came in contact with previous cases, bringing the total number of infections to 366.
