BREAKING: Egypt suspends schools, universities for two weeks to fight coronavirus spread
Egypt will suspend schools and universities for a two-week period starting March 15, as part of efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus, the presidency said in a statement on Saturday.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi also called for a 100 billion Egyptian pound ($6.38 billion) fund to finance the state’s “comprehensive plan” for tackling the flu-like disease, the statement added.
Egypt has so far reported 93 confirmed cases of the infection with two fatalities, one of a German tourist and another of a 60-year-old woman.
