Mohamed Salah Abdel Maguid, the attorney general of East of Alexandria’s Prosecution, ordered detaining leading Muslim Brotherhood member Hassan al-Brens for 15 days pending investigation.
Brens, who is a former deputy governor of Alexandria, is currently under investigation on charges of inciting violence in Sidi Gaber events after the June 30 protests, a judicial source said on Friday.
Brens refused to answer most questions during the investigation and when he answered, he only said, “This did not happen,” the source added.
The prosecution accused Brens with 17 charges, including the formation of a group that seeks to terrorize citizens and attack public installations.
The charges include joining a terrorist group and inciting murder and arson as well as others.
