Egypt’s Burullus Gas has added the developmental well Sparrow West-1 to its production map under Phase 11 of the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) project, operated by Rashpetco in partnership with Shell and Petronas.
Sparrow West-1 is the second well to come online in this phase, following the successful connection of Sienna DE. Together, the two wells have raised the company’s natural gas output by 80 million cubic feet per day in just three weeks.
According to a statement issued by the Petroleum Ministry, initial tests of Sparrow West-1 confirmed the technical projections, with a targeted daily output of 40 million cubic feet. The well is expected to improve overall network efficiency and support the performance of nearby wells.
The development plan for Phase 11 aims to add up to 130 million cubic feet per day to Burullus Gas’s production. Moreover, work is already underway on a third well, set to come operational in September, to help meet peak summer demand, reduce reliance on imports, and diversify supplies to the national natural gas grid.
