Cairo bourse attains $562mn gains in a week

The market capitalisation of the Egyptian stocks has achieved  weekly gains worth 4.4 billion pounds (US$ 562.3 million) to end the week at 426 billion pounds versus 421.6 billion pounds a week earlier.

Egyptian stock has suspended its trading activity on Wednesday, 23 December, on the occasion of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.

The country’s main stock index, EGX30 has increased 2.14 percent to close at 6812 points, opposed to 6669 points at the end of a week earlier.

The main gauge index registered its highest point on Thursday  closing at 6812 points, whereas its lowest point recorded on Sunday at 6707 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 boosted in a week by 1.9 percent closing at 371 points during Thursday’s session, compared to 364 points at the end of a week earlier.

The price index, EGX100 also rose 1.2 percent finishing at 769 points during Thursday’s session, from 760 points at the end of a week earlier.

Turnovers

Through last week, the trading volume hit 1.2 billion securities, compared to 1.3 billion. For the traded value, it reached 2.5 billion pounds against 2.6 billion pounds a week earlier.
