Cairo bourse ends with modest gains of $97mn

Egyptian bourse ended Tuesday with modest gains estimated at 763 million Egyptian pounds (US$97.4million) on Egyptians buying appetite.

The market capitalisation has recorded 423.481 billion pounds during the closing session of Tuesday.

Indices

Egypt’s benchmark index, EGX30 increased by 0.10 percent to 6769.08 points.

The EGX50 EWI index went higher by 0.79 percent to 1157.69 points.

EGX20 hiked 1.01 percent to 6823.66 points.

In addition, the mid- and small-cap index EGX70 surged by 0.34 percent to 367.54 points. The price index, EGX100 rose by 0.28 percent to 758.67 points.

Turnovers high

On Tuesday, the bourse’s trading volume hit 249.021 million securities, with turnovers closed at  585.170 million pounds, exchanged through 24,500 thousand transactions.

Also during the closing session, 164 listed securities have been traded in; 54 declined, 79 advanced; while 30 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arab and foreign investors were net sellers on Tuesday getting 5.83 % and 10.82% respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of  12.132 million pounds and  22.750 million pounds , respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, local investors were net buyers seizing 83.35 % of the total market, with a net equity of 34.882 million pounds, excluding the deals.
