Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) launches the first database for more than 36 thousand SMEs available at the Banking Institute, which establishes a web portal to display data and information related to Egypt’s SMEs.
The website offers researches, reports and local and international news that show the best applications offered to serve SMEs.
The database relies on the 2006 listing set by Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, in addition to the new enterprises registered after 2006. Field data collection and survey data verifying are monitored and done respectively by Center for Surveys and Statistical Applications, Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University, as the center had previous experience in the field.
In a statement today, CBE assured the importance of this database as the statistical data and recent information about SMEs is crucial for the decision makers and for the national economy as SMEs are the essential drivers of economy as they help in development and providing job vacancies.
