CBE reports foreign deposits rise to EGP 1.516tn in H1 of 2023
The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) reported on Monday the total foreign currency deposits at the Egyptian banks jumped to 1.516 trillion Egyptian pounds by the end of June, up from 1.160 trillion pounds by the end of December 2022.
The demand deposits in foreign currencies amounted to 386.227 billion pounds by the end of June compared to 309.8 billion pounds by the end of 2022, while the volume of term deposits and savings certificates reached 1.129 trillion pounds.
The report added that the demand deposits in foreign currencies for the public business sector registered about 16.795 billion pounds, while the private business sector reached about 256.6 billion, CBE’s monthly report mentioned.
