The Chinese News Agency announced on Sunday that the country launched a campaign to hire university graduates in large and mid-sized cities, in the light of the government’s efforts to create more job opportunities.
Xinhua news agency said that the campaign is under the supervision of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, as it will run until the 26th of May.
China seeks to create 12 million job opportunities in the cities this year, when in 2022 it aimed to create 11 million job opportunities. The government seeks to keep the unemployment rate at around 5.5 percent this year.
Last week, Li Qiang, Chinese Prime Minister, said that developing the economy is the “main solution for providing job opportunities,” he also stressed on the fact that the government will continue to follow the Employment First strategy.
The National Bureau of Statistics showed in their statistics that the unemployment percentage was 5.6 percent in February, and it was 18.1 percent in the age group from 16 to 24 years.
The Bureau also said that the increase in the unemployment rate in February is a result of seasonal factors.
