China to impose additional tariffs on US goods starting April 10
China’s Ministry of Finance announced on Friday that it will introduce additional tariffs on all US imports beginning April 10. These new duties will be applied on top of the existing tariff rates currently in effect.
In a separate statement, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce emphasised that the move aligns with efforts to uphold national security and fulfill international responsibilities.
“The purpose of the Chinese government’s implementation of export controls on relevant items in accordance with the law is to better safeguard national security and interests, and to fulfill international obligations such as non-proliferation,” the ministry said in a statement.
