Egypt’s Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) has signed a $22.6 million agreement with China’s Changzhou Ramada Blanket Industry Co., Ltd to establish a textile manufacturing plant in West Qantara Industrial Zone, the authority said Monday.
The project, covering 80,000 square metres, will produce 5,000 tons of fabric, 4 million bed sets, and 1 million car carpet sets annually, with 90 per cent of output targeted for export. The plant is expected to create 1,500 direct jobs.
SCZone Chairman Walid Gamal El-Din said the deal brings the total number of projects in Qantara West to 32, with combined investments of $822.2 million and over 45,600 direct jobs. He added that political and economic stability, skilled labour, and attractive investment incentives have positioned the zone as a preferred destination for foreign investors.
Changzhou Ramada Blanket Industry Co., Ltd, founded in China’s Jiangsu province in 2016, specialises in an integrated production chain for home and apparel textiles, including fabric manufacturing, printing, dyeing, and finishing.
