China’s e-commerce trade reaches $170b in H1 ’24
China’s cross-border e-commerce sector continued to expand in the first half of 2024, with trade volume reaching 1.22 trillion yuan ($170.95 billion), marking a 10.5 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
According to Lyu Daliang, a spokesperson for the General Administration of Customs, the growth was fuelled by supportive government policies, including the establishment of cross-border e-commerce pilot zones and streamlined customs procedures.
Looking ahead, the Chinese government plans to further optimise customs clearance processes and enhance services to sustain the momentum of cross-border e-commerce development.
