China’s rapid adoption of generative artificial intelligence (AI) has led to a significant surge in its user base, which reached 230 million by June 2024, showing its commitment to revolutionising industries.
A report released by the China Internet Network Information Centre (CNNIC) on Sunday highlighted the robust development of China’s generative AI industry. The country boasts over 4,500 AI-related companies and a core sector valued at nearly 600 billion yuan.
As of July 2024, over 190 generative AI models were live online, providing diverse options and personalized experiences. China introduced provisional rules for generative AI services in July 2023, a global first.
