China’s June vehicle exports surge

China’s exports of passenger vehicles reached 378,000 units in June, up 28 per cent year-on-year (YoY) and unchanged from the previous month.

Chinese-brand car exports rose by 31 per cent annually to 325,000 units, while luxury vehicles and joint venture cars increased by 12 per cent to 54,000 units.

June saw 80,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) exported, a 12.3 per cent yearly increase, contributing to a first-half total of 586,000 NEV exports, up 21.2 per cent annually. Domestic passenger car retail sales surpassed 9.84 million units in the first half of the year, up 3.3 per cent annually, with continued growth expected driven by increasing private vehicle ownership and demand for smart electric vehicles, according to the China Passenger Car Association.
