China’s manufacturing sector saw robust growth in the first eight months of 2024, with the number of enterprises rising by 5.53 per cent to 6.03 million by the end of August compared to the end of the previous year.
Among these manufacturing companies, 515,300 were involved in strategic emerging industries, accounting for 8.55 per cent of the total. This indicates a growing focus on cutting-edge sectors and technologies.
China’s eastern region leads in manufacturing, with 3.87 million firms, accounting for 64.21 per cent of the total. The central region has 1.13 million companies, while the western and northeastern regions have 755,900 and 268,300 firms, respectively.
Throughout the first eight months of the year, the number of manufacturing companies in China exhibited a consistent upward trend, with the central region experiencing the most rapid growth at 6.55 per cent compared to the end of 2023.
