China’s Q1 water conservancy investment climbs by 4.4%

China’s investment in water conservancy facilities increased by 4.4 per cent year on year, reaching 193.3 billion yuan (approximately 27.2 billion USD) in the first quarter of this year, according to official data released on Monday cited by Xinhua.

This figure surpassed previous records for the same period, as stated by Vice Minister of Water Resources Chen Min at a press conference, according to the same news agency.

Chen also revealed that China initiated 9,683 new water conservancy projects in the first quarter, marking a 33.8 per cent increase year on year.

Furthermore, these water conservancy projects generated approximately 730,000 jobs across the country in the first quarter, reflecting a 3.8 per cent increase year on year, as reported by the ministry, according to the same source.
