China’s total trade value hits $61.6t in ’24

China’s total export and import value reached $61,622.9 billion in 2024, according to the latest trade data published by the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China on Monday.

Exports for the full year 2024 totalled $35,772.2 billion, with December exports reaching $3,356.3 billion. This represents a 10.7 per cent year-on-year increase for December exports and a 5.9 per cent increase for the whole year.

Imports also contributed to the positive trade figures, with a total value of $25,850.7 billion for 2024 and $2,307.9 billion for December. Year-on-year growth for imports was 1.0 per cent in December and 1.1 per cent for the full year.

The trade surplus reached $9,921.6 billion for the year and $1,048.4 billion for December. The month-on-month change for total export and import value in December was 7.5 per cent, while the year-on-year change was 6.5 per cent.
