Communications Ministry to Present New Draft Laws to Presidency

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has addressed the presidency concerning the presentation of the completed draft law before President Mohamed Morsy, who has been deemed to be a representative of the legislative power since the dissolution of the parliament.

Dr. Abdel Rahman El Sawy, professor of communication engineering at Helwan University and Chairman of the ministry committee responsible for drawing up the law, stated that the Ministry seeks to enact these laws through an elected People’s Assembly.

He pointed out that the committee has finalized 4 laws relating to amending the NTRA law which includes Article 67 that permitted cutting off communication services during the “Friday of Anger” that took place on the 28th of January 2011. He noted that this law was filed to the transport committee for consideration before the parliament dissolution.

He further confirmed the completion of the freedom of information exchange act, in addition to preparing the final draft of the amendments set forth in the community dialogue.  He added that the amendments to the laws of bids and tenders and data confidentiality protection have been finalized.
