Confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States pass 500,000

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the United States has passed 554,000 on Sunday, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

The country has recorded more than 21,994 deaths and 554,226 cases so far during the pandemic, the data showed. All 50 states are under a federal disaster declaration for the first time in the U.S. history.

Below is a snapshot of the numbers of coronavirus cases worldwide:

Global cases: More than 1,696,139
Global deaths: More than 102,669
Most cases confirmed: The U.S. (500,399), Spain (158,273), Italy (147,577), Germany (122,171), and France (125,931)
