Damietta Furniture City (DFC) should be provided by raw materials and modern equipment so it can so it can serve as an integrated and specialised centre for furniture manufacturing, according to Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.
The president has met with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and the presidential aid for national and strategic projects Sherif Ismail on Sunday, El-Sisi said that the DFC should be supported in order to meet the needs of the domestic market and to open the door for exporting to African and Arab countries.
The president stressed the importance of boosting investment opportunities in the DFC to provide direct and indirect job opportunities, presidency spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement following the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by Local Development Minister Mahmoud Shaarawy, Trade and Industry Minister Nevine Gamea, and Damietta Governor Manal Wad, among others.
The industrial city, which was inaugurated on December 2019 by the Egyptian president, is spread over 331 feddans and aims to serve as a springboard for small and medium-sized enterprises.
