Danone Egypt embarks on an eco-conscious journey on Wednesday, partnering with Shift EV to revolutionise its product distribution network.
This initiative, which involves converting 50 per cent of the fleet using Shift’s Electro-fitted technology, is a testament to Danone Egypt’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and leading the charge towards a greener future.
The project is set to make a substantial impact on the environment by aiming to cut carbon emissions by more than 6,000 metric tons.
This ambitious goal is equivalent to the environmental benefit of planting 240,000 trees and is expected to be achieved by the year 2030.
Moreover, the switch to electric power is projected to result in a 70 per cent reduction in operating costs for the company.
Hesham Radwan, General Manager of Danone Egypt, underscored the company’s commitment to prioritising the well-being of consumers and the community.
He reaffirmed that sustainability is a core aspect of their business strategy, which is in harmony with Danone’s twin goals of commercial prosperity and contributing to environmental and societal well-being.
Aly Eltayeb, CEO of Shift EV, expressed that the electrification of pickup trucks is a significant milestone for the company and its clients in the transportation and shipping industry.
The Electro-fitted technology not only gives trucks a new lease on life with an electric propulsion system but also promises substantial reductions in fuel and maintenance costs.
