Militant attacks have killed 496 people in Egypt since the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi in July, a foreign ministry statement sent to the media stated.
The statement said 252 police and 187 military personnel were among those killed, in addition to 57 civilians.
Most of the attacks were in North Sinai and targeted security forces. In recent months, attacks in other locations in Egypt have become more frequent.
While most militant attacks have targeted security forces, four civilians were killed in an attack on a tourist bus in South Sinai in February.
