DEWA selects ACWA Power to construct, develop desalination plant

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) said on Wednesday that it picked Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power as preferred bidder to construct and operate Sea Water Reverse Osmosis Hassyan Phase 1 Independent Water Producer (IWP) project.

The company will make an investment of 3.357 billion dirhams ($914 million) for the project, which has a capacity of more than 180 Million Imperial Gallons a Day (MIGD) or (818.2 million litres a day).

It is worth mentioning that DEWA received two bids from ACWA Power and Abu Dhabi National Energy Company PJSC (TAQA) on 22nd of May 2023 in response to the Request for Proposal (RFP) released to the market in December 2022.
