Dollar edges up to around 52.43 Egyptian pounds in midday trade – 12 March, 2026

The US dollar edged slightly higher against the Egyptian pound in midday trading on Thursday, averaging about 52.43 pounds across major banks as of 12:10 p.m. Cairo time (10:10 GMT).

Data from leading lenders showed the greenback trading within a relatively narrow range of 52.28 to 52.55 pounds, suggesting broadly steady demand for foreign currency in the local market.

Exchange rates at several of Egypt’s major banks were as follows:

Bank Buy (EGP/USD) Sell (EGP/USD)
National Bank of Egypt (NBE) 52.36 52.46
Banque Misr 52.4 52.5
Commercial International Bank (CIB) 52.4 52.5
QNB Alahli 52.2800 52.3800
Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) 52.4500 52.5500

The modest uptick comes as the Egyptian pound continues to trade within a relatively stable band against the dollar, following Egypt’s move to adopt a more flexible exchange rate regime in March 2024.
