E-finance, the first and largest electronic payment and collection gateway in Egypt, is to hold a press conference on Sunday to reveal details about Egypt’s smart card system project for subsidised fuel.
Khaled Abdel Ghany, PMO Manager at E-finance, stated that his company received the data on vehicles with valid licences in the country from the General Traffic Authority in Cairo, Giza and Qalyubia governorates.
The smart cards will be issued within two weeks, Abdel Ghany said, adding that E-finance will announce to the media the timeframe for the distribution of the smart cards throughout different traffic authorities.
Moreover, he noted that citizens can claim their personal smart cards by sending application to the traffic department where the car license was issued, or to sign up at a new website, which will be launched soon, for home delivery.
