The Egyptian Arab Land Bank’s (EALB) branch in Al-Arish town in the Sinai Peninsula is currently open in Ramadan’s regular working hours despite the turmoil that resulted from the killing of 16 Egyptian border guards in an attack, said Abdel Megid Mohy El-Din, chairman of the bank.
The bank has taken the precautionary procedures since the unrest that followed 2011’s revolution as the number of bank robberies highly increased, Mohy El-Din affirmed.
The promises voiced by Egyptian officials about Sinai urbanization and development will be achieved gradually, he said, expecting that such development will increase the number of banks and raise the volume of banking transactions in the region.
