EBRD invests €10m to boost Romanian retailer La Cocos

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), alongside private equity firms CEECAT Capital and Morphosis Capital, is investing €10 million in La Cocos, a Romanian food retailer.

This funding will support La Cocos’s expansion of its store network, aiming to enhance its competitiveness and strengthen its market position in Romania.

La Cocos, founded in 2014 and currently operating three stores in Ploiesti and Bucharest, plans to significantly increase its locations over the next four years.

Iulian Nica, CEO of La Cocos, expressed gratitude for the support, highlighting the investment’s role in achieving their ambitious growth targets.

Tamas Nagy, Co-Head of EBRD Private Equity, emphasised the strategic importance of the investment in the food retail sector, noting the opportunity to scale an innovative business model in Romania.

CEECAT Capital and Morphosis Capital are focused on high-growth markets and transformative investments in emerging companies.

The EBRD has invested over €11 billion in 547 projects in Romania, underscoring its commitment to supporting local economic development.
