EBRD offers $13.5 to support Armenia’s 1st sustainability bond
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has invested $13.5 million (€12.9 million) in Team Telecom Armenia’s $75 million (€71.6 million) sustainability-linked bond, the second-largest issuance in Armenia’s capital markets, according to the bank’s statement.
The bond, also supported by the International Financial Corporation, Asian Development Bank, and Proparco, is listed on the Armenian Stock Exchange.
Proceeds will be used to upgrade telecom infrastructure, expand 4G+ coverage, increase fibre-to-home penetration, and improve cybersecurity. The bond aligns with ambitious targets, including a 40 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2029.
The initiative aims to modernise Armenia’s telecom sector while supporting its digital and green transition. “This bond marks a pivotal step in modernising Armenia’s telecommunications landscape,” said Hayk Yesayan, General Director of Team Telecom Armenia.
The investment reflects EBRD’s commitment to strengthening Armenia’s capital markets and fostering a sustainable digital future.
