Mona El-Garf, Chairperson of the Egyptian competition authority (ECA), stated that it is difficult to correct the economy if the private sector stepped down and the government took control because there are mechanisms for actions citing article 27 of the constitution which encourages competition; however mechanism for it to work must be set.
El-Garf added that article 10 of the law gives the state the right to price strategic commodities, and that the market is full of monopolistic practices and needs a lot of effort.
