The Egyptian General Company for Tourism & Hotels (EGOTH) to start developing Mena House Hotel within the upcoming two years, Chairman of the Holding Company for Tourism, Hotels & Cinema (HOTAC) Mervat Hataba said Thursday.
EGOTH will develop Mena House Hotel with total cost of 250 million Egyptian pounds (US$31.9million), Hataba sated.
The Mena House is one of the most unique hotels in Cairo, with its own rich and colourful history, surrounded by 40 acres of verdant green gardens.
It is located in the shadows of the Great Pyramids of Giza in Cairo.
Hataba made these remarks during the ceremony of signing the contract of Mena House Marriott hotel in the presence of Egyptian Investment minister Ashraf Salman, EGOTH’s Chairman Samir Hassan, Chief Development Officer of Middle East & Africa at Marriott International, Inc Samir Baidas in addition to a number of representatives of the three entities.
Hataba added that the developing processes of safety and communications systems as well as fronts are to cost 40 million Egyptian pounds.
The cost of developing processes depended on EGOTH’s self-financing, she added, clarifying that EGOTH is to get that cost back in five years from finishing the developing processes.
