EGP 115b for Egypt’s 2nd phase of health insurance system

Egypt is set to launch the second phase of its Comprehensive Health Insurance System in the next fiscal year, targeting upgrades across five governorates. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that the initiative would be completed within three years at a total cost of 115 billion Egyptian pounds.

Madbouly clarified that this substantial funding is entirely separate from the Health Ministry’s regular budget, underlining the government’s dedication to enhancing healthcare services. He also noted that the second phase will be implemented concurrently across the five governorates, drawing on lessons learned from the first phase to ensure timely execution.

The Comprehensive Health Insurance System is a key pillar in Egypt’s strategy to provide universal healthcare access and improve citizens’ quality of life nationwide.
