On Tuesday, the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) opened lower by posting losses of EGP 4.04 billion as the capital market has reached EGP 347.163 billion according to data compiled by Amwal Al Ghad at 09:05 GMT (11:05 local time).
The main index, EGX30 slumped 1.52% to hit 4867.25 p. EGX20 plummeted 2.40% to reach 5621.05 p.
Meanwhile, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 sank 0.64% to hit 433.03 p. Price index EGX100 went down 1.38% to reach 744.76 p.
Traded volume reached 15.497million securities worth 53.290 million, exchanged through 3.410 thousand transactions.
This was after trading in 109 listed securities; 75 declined and 18 advanced while 16 keeping their previous levels.
Egyptians and Arabs were net buyers seizing 81.54% and 3.49% respectively, of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 12.000 thousand and EGP 182.691 thousand excluding the deals.
Non-Arab Foreigners were net sellers seizing 14.97% of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 194.690 thousand excluding the deals.
EGX’s leading shares witnessed collective downwards except for the shares owned by Commercial International Bank- Egypt (CIB) (COMI.CA) which went up 0.18% to hit EGP 27.86.
On the other hand, the shares of Orascom Telecom Media & Technology Holding (OTMT.CA) dived 9.74% to hit EGP 1.39. Shares of Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH) (ORTE.CA) sank 1.22% to reach EGP 3.23. Shares of Shares owned by EFG-Hermes Holding (HRHO.CA) inched lower 1.21% to hit EGP 10.57. Shares of Orascom Construction Industries (OCIC.CA) edged down 0.59% to reach EGP 257.25.
