The Board of Directors of the Egyptian Exchange has held a consultative meeting on Monday so as to discuss and asses the market’s current situation. The meeting aimed to set alternative plans in accordance with any coming changes the market may witness.
Dr. Mohamed Omran, EGX Chairman, said the board confirms the bourse’s primary role is to give the investors the freedom to enter and exit the market according to the supply and demand mechanisms and to the continuity of trading on a regular basis.
“Hence, there is no need to discuss halting the trading on the EGX. The management will continue monitoring and following up the situation in order to adopt suitable decisions in the light of any subsequent developments.” Omran added
The Board further noted that the precautionary measures currently applied are fair enough and there is no reason to take further measures in regard to hinder the EGX trading.
