EGX closes in red on August 13

Egypt’s stock exchange (EGX) closed in the red area on Tuesday, with the main index, EGX30 sliding by 1.26 per cent, to 29,331.04 points.

The Shariah index, EGX33 shed 1.09 per cent to 2,825.05 points.

The small to mid-size enterprises’ index, EGX70 dropped by 0.53 per cent, to 6,570.34 points.

The index, EGX100 index fell by 0.69 per cent, to 9,457.5 points.

The total market capitalisation recorded 2,025,076,997,271 Egyptian pounds.

Egyptians were net sellers with a total transactions of 7,621,485,506 Egyptian pounds. Meanwhile, Arabs and non-Arab foreigners were net buyers with 2,307,371,220 Egyptian pounds, and 5,314,114,287 Egyptian pounds, respectively.

Top gainers

  1. Shares of Sinai Cement (SCEM.CA) climbed by 19.92 per cent, to close at 12.640 Egyptian pounds a share.
  2. Shares of Egypt for Poultry (EPCO.CA) jumped by 14.95 per cent, to close at 4.230 Egyptian pounds a share.
  3. Shares of Six of October Development & Investment (SODIC) (OCDI.CA) surged by 11.66 per cent, to close at the price of 47.300 Egyptian pounds a share.

Top losers

  1. Shares of ELSWEDY ELECTRIC (SWDY.CA) declined by 6.41 per cent, to close at the price of 63.640 Egyptian pounds a share.
  2. Shares of Misr Beni Suef Cement (MBSC.CA) fell by 4.70 per cent, to trade at the price of 37.100 Egyptian pounds a share.
  3. Shares of Ezz Steel (ESRS.CA) dropped by 4.62 per cent, to the purchasing price of 92.050 Egyptian pounds a share.
