Egypt’s stock exchange (EGX) closed in the red area on Monday, with the main index, EGX30 going down by 0.97 per cent, to 29,742.12 points.
The Shariah index, EGX33 tumbled 1.39 per cent to 3,152.35 points.
The SMEs index, EGX70 dropped by 1.62 per cent, to 8,388.85 points.
The index, EGX100 index fell by 1.52 per cent, to 11,498.53 points.
The total market capitalisation reached 2,219,926,571,349 Egyptian pounds.
Egyptians and non-Arab foreigners were net sellers with 413,524,720 Egyptian pounds, and 1,072,816,005 Egyptian pounds, respectively. Meanwhile, Arabs were net buyers with 1,486,340,725 Egyptian pounds.
Top gainers
- Shares of South Valley Cement (SVCE.CA) jumped by 19.95 per cent, to close at the price of 4.450 Egyptian pounds a share.
- Shares of Misr Beni Suef Cement (MBSC.CA) climbed by 10.10 per cent, to trade at the price of 68.010 Egyptian pounds a share.
- Shares of Misr Cement – Qena (MCQE.CA) surged by 6.00 per cent, to the purchasing price of 25.610 Egyptian pounds a share.
Top losers
- Shares of Upper Egypt Flour Mills (UEFM.CA) plunged by 9.49 per cent, to close at 243.840 Egyptian pounds a share.
- Shares of Development & Engineering Consultants (DAPH.CA) sank by 7.43 per cent, to close at 57.180 Egyptian pounds a share.
- Shares of Industrial & Engineering Projects (IEEC.CA) dived by 6.59 per cent, to close at the price of 0.312 Egyptian pounds a share.
