EGX ends week mostly lower

Egypt’s Stock Exchange (EGX) closed mostly lower on Wednesday, with the main index, EGX30 inching down by 0.36 per cent to 29,090.57.

The Shariah index, EGX33 fell by 0.50 to 2,773.58 points.

The small to mid-size enterprises’ index, EGX70 rose by 0.20 per cent, to 6,694.64 points.

The index, EGX100 index dropped by 0.13 per cent, to 9,590.55 points.

Trading on the EGX will be halted on Thursday, July 25, on the occasion of the Revolution Day, July 23. Trading will resume on Sunday, July 28.

The total market capitalisation recorded 1,983,786,193,075 Egyptian pounds.

The Arabs and non-Arab foreigners were net buyers with 41,598,389 Egyptian pounds, and 412,719,639 Egyptian pounds, respectively. Meanwhile, the Egyptians transactions were mainly sellers with 454,318,028 Egyptian pounds.

Top gainers

  1. Shares of Delta Co for Printing and Packaging (DTPP.CA) jumped by 15.75 per cent to close at the price of 49.030 Egyptian pounds a share.
  2. Shares of Ismailia National Company for Food Industries (INFI.CA) soared by 13.21 per cent, to trade at the price of 59.800 Egyptian pounds a share.
  3. Shares of South Valley Cement Co (SVCE.CA) climbed by 9.81 per cent, to the purchasing price of 2.350 Egyptian pounds a share.

Top losers

  1. Shares of Misr Duty Free Shops (MFSC.CA) plunged by 11.15 per cent, to close at 25.490 Egyptian pounds a share.
  2. Shares of Saudi Egyptian Investment and Finance Co (SEIG.CA) dived by 8.53 per cent, to end at 53.520 Egyptian pounds a share.
  3. Shares of Misr Beni-Suef Cement Company (MBSC.CA) sank by 6.64 per cent, to finish at the price of 38.250 Egyptian pounds a share.
