EGX Gains EGP 5 Bln, Main Index Nears 5000 pts; Midday

On Monday’s midday session, the EGX extended its morning gains to reach EGP 4.9 billion as the capital market reached EGP 356.067 billion at 10:35 GMT (12:35 p.m in Cairo).

The main index, EGX30 jumped 2.75% to reach 4962.12 p. EGX20 surged 3.74% to reach 5837.36 p.

Meanwhile, the mid- and small-cap index, the EGX70 slumped 0.43% to reach 442.53 p. Price index EGX100 soared 1.13% to reach 784.68 p.

Traded volume reached million 47.925 securities worth EGP 311.354 million, exchanged through 13.002 thousand transactions.

This was after trading in 151 listed securities; 38 down and 98 up while 15 keeping their previous levels.

Egyptians and Arabs were net buyers seizing 60% and 9.76% respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of EGP 40.748 million and EGP 17.144 million, excluding the deals.

On the other hand, the non-Arab Foreigners were net sellers seizing 30.24%, with a net equity of EGP 57.891 million, excluding the deals.
