EGX starts week mostly higher on March 16

Egypt’s stock exchange (EGX) ended mostly in the green on Sunday, with the benchmark EGX30 index rising 0.15 per cent to 31,338.34 points.

Meanwhile, the EGX33 Shariah index dipped 0.42 per cent to 3,370.54 points, while the SMEs index (EGX70) added 0.97 per cent to 8,872.19 points. The broader EGX100 index also gained 0.72 per cent to reach 12,298.25 points.

The total market capitalisation stood at 2.25 trillion Egyptian pounds. Egyptian investors were net buyers, with 360.86 million pounds in purchases, while Arab and non-Arab foreign investors were net sellers, offloading 13.33 million pounds and 347.53 million pounds, respectively.

Top gainers

  1. Shares of Rights Issue of Beltone Holding -4 soared by 26.00 per cent, to close at the price of 0.063 Egyptian pounds a share.
  2. Shares of Sinai Cement climbed by 19.98 per cent, to trade at the price of 37.890 Egyptian pounds a share.
  3. Shares of Misr National Steel – Ataqa jumped by 15.85 per cent, to the purchasing price of 9.500 Egyptian pounds a share.

Top losers

  1. Shares of Arab Developers Holding plunged by 8.17 per cent, to close at 0.337 Egyptian pounds a share.
  2. Shares of Faisal Islamic Bank of Egypt – In EGP declined by 7.19 per cent, to close at 35.230 Egyptian pounds a share.
  3. Shares of Ismailia Development and Real Estate Co dropped by 7.06 per cent, to close at the price of 31.610 Egyptian pounds a share.
