Egypt’s Tourism Promotion Authority-Alex announced on Friday the arrival of the King Farouk I Train to Alexandria after it was repaired to its original condition.
The train will be presented in the Royal Train Garage Museum in Montaza Palace’s garden next to the first tram in the history of Alexandria, the authority added in the statement.
The authority stressed that the train will not operate on railways despite all the comprehensive renovation.
King Farouk I train contains three coaches, a bedroom for the King attached to a kitchen, a toilet, two salons, places for guards, and two engine cabins.
The Italian company Fiat made the train and entered Egypt in 1950, the authority stated. In addition, the train operated for only two years, then it stopped after the outbreak of the July 23, 1952 revolution.
