Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum announced on Thursday that APA Corporation, in cooperation with the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC), achieved a new natural gas discovery in the Western Desert after drilling the SKAL-1X exploratory well in South Khabasha. Initial tests indicate daily production of about 26 million cubic feet of gas and 2,700 barrels of condensate.
Located near current operations, the site benefits from existing infrastructure, reducing costs and supporting faster development. The discovery aims to bring new finds into production quickly, offset natural declines in older fields, and lower capital expenditures.
