Egypt, ACWA Power ink 2,000 MW wind plant deal

Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) signed an agreement on Wednesday with Saudi Arabia’s ACWA Power to develop a 2,000 MW wind power plant south of Hurghada City.

Under the deal, ACWA Power will finance, develop, and operate the project, advancing Egypt’s renewable energy goals and strengthening its partnership with the company in the clean energy sector.

Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mahmoud Esmat stated that the project aligns with the country’s strategy to expand renewable energy, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and cut carbon emissions.
