Egypt advances rollout of air cargo ACI system

Egypt strengthened its “trust partnership” with the business community as Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk intensified engagement with importers, customs brokers, and air freight agents ahead of the mandatory rollout of the Advance Cargo Information (ACI) system for air cargo on the first of January.

The ministry said it is working with investor partners to facilitate trade movement and reduce import and export costs, while teams respond promptly to inquiries related to the pre-registration system for air shipments.

The Cabinet statement added that Kouchouk directed officials to expand communication efforts and clarify the mechanisms and advantages of the updated system, ensuring continuous technical support throughout both the trial and compulsory phases.

Customs Authority Chairman Ahmed Amawi said regular meetings are underway with business organisations to explain the pre-registration system at air ports. He noted that guidance manuals are available to outline all elements of the advanced system to streamline procedures for importers.
