Egypt, AFD discuss healthcare cooperation

Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, Dr Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, held a meeting with a delegation from the French Development Agency (AFD) to discuss cooperation in the healthcare sector, according to the Egyptian Cabinet.

The meeting, held during the annual forum of the Universal Health Insurance Authority (UHIA), focused on current collaboration opportunities and expanding future plans in various healthcare fields, with a particular emphasis on the Comprehensive Health Insurance System.

Abdel Ghaffar stressed that international partners’ support is a key pillar in implementing the project according to global standards, ensuring improved healthcare services and health security for citizens.

The two sides also explored cooperation in public health programmes, particularly initiatives promoting maternal and child health. Additionally, they discussed ways to enhance collaboration and exchange expertise in vaccine manufacturing to boost local production rates.
