Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population affirmed on Tuesday that all citizens have the right to immediate and free emergency treatment for the first 48 hours in both public and private hospitals, in line with Cabinet Decree No. 1063 of 2014.
Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar warned that any private hospital demanding payment for emergency care will be shut down immediately, with those responsible referred for investigation. He urged citizens to report violations through the ministry’s hotline (105), stressing that complaints will be handled promptly and that the state is committed to safeguarding the right to emergency treatment.
