Egypt’s central bank announced on Monday that banks will allow head office employees to work remotely on Sundays throughout April 2026, while assuring customers that their access to banking services will remain uninterrupted.
According to the Central Bank of Egypt’s (CBE) latest circular, the remote work arrangement applies only to administrative departments that do not deal directly with clients. Branches, call centres, and other customer service channels—whether staffed or automated—will continue to operate at full capacity during official working days.
The move is aimed at providing operational flexibility for employees without affecting service delivery, the central bank said.
“The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) affirms that all banks’ branches, call centres, and customer service channels, whether automated or staff-assisted, will continue to operate at full capacity during official working days.”
“Furthermore, the CBE emphasises that the remote work policy applies only to Head Office departments that do not provide direct customer services and will have no impact on the customer experience across the banking sector.”
